COURSE AIM
To provide basic knowledge of how our views on the relationship between man and nature have developed.
- To illustrate the rerlationship between our views on nature and technology, politics and democracy.
- To stimulate discussion about how environmental problems can be handled.



CONTENTS
Project work
- A relevant topic is chosen at the beginning of the course.

Reading course
- The reading course supports the project work. The course starts with a presentation of different ways to observe the relationship between man and nature. Our views on nature is considered to have consequenses on the shaping of society, the utilization of technology, and even the system of government. Special attention will be focused upon democracy as a method of decisionmaking. The students will be given an oppurtunity to discuss environmental rights and responsibilities, for example how citizens can take responsibility for the environment. The course will also show the ethical conflicts that can surface when environmental interests clash with other interests.
