IEM008 / IEM333 or equivalent.

COURSE AIM
This course will provide students with a deeper knowledge of:
- the role of promotion within the marketing mix
- the overall creative aspects of advertising
- the creation of advertising ideas for use in various media
- the production of ads for the various media
- media planning and placement
- the development and use of advertising campaigns
- ethics in the advertising industry


CONTENTS
The course introduces students to the advertising industry and all its creative processes. Theory about advertising creation and media planning are used by combining lectures with actual hands-on experiences for the students in these areas. The class is divided into actual mini-ad agencies with most of the learning coming from the creation of an entire advertising campaign for a real-life client.

TEACHING
Lectures, seminars, supervision, group assignments and project work.

EXAMINATION
Students will be graded on a series of mini-presentations as well as one final presentation.To receive a passing grade for this course, students must actively participate in the lectures and group discussions/work, plus take part in all presentations. Students may receive one of three possible grades for this course: Pass with honors, Pass or Fail.

NOTE! This course is given every even-numbered (2000, 2002...) year. Is not given autumn 01.
