TIMEPERIOD: Q III-IV LANGUAGE: EXAMINER Lennart Persson Univ lekt PREREQUISITES None except general COURSE AIM The course aim is to provide: - basic knowledge about scientific theory and scientific research methods - understanding of the concept of knowledge and creation of knowledge and - basic skills in scientific reporting CONTENTS The course starts with an introduction to different scientific approaches and research traditions and the view of knowledge and creation of knowledge from a natural sciences perspective as well as a social sciences perspective. This is followed by sessions describing different methodological approaches and research methods including the format of research papers. The course is also providing a section focusing the use of language in communication of research in both written and oral formats. TEACHING Lectures, seminars and group assignments. EXAMINATION Grading scale: U (fail), G (pass) or VG (high pass). Written test, individual and group assignments presented in both written and oral formats. Presence during compulsory sessions.
