COURSE AIM Overall, the course will provide students with: - A history of the Internet and how it has evolved into an international marketing tool. - The evolution of e-commerce and of e-business in both industrial and consumer markets. - Knowledge on the role of Internet tools such as websites and e-mail. - Knowledge on how to develop and maintain a business / commercial website. - Knowledge on how to market websites (i.e Web-based marekting plans) - How to integrate on-line/ off-line marketing programs - Skills regarding management of real-world and e-commerce business applications - A background on the social issues facing on-line marketing (laws, ethics, etc) CONTENTS The course focuses on the Internet and it development as a powerful communication and marketing tool. Using the traditional views of strategic marketing theory as a foundation, this course will provide students the opportunity to prepare themselves to manage marketing in both the on-line and off-line worlds. TEACHING The course is taught throughout formal lectures as well as discussions of the literature and the use of practical examples during the lectures. The course will have its own interactive homepage. EXAMINATION A combination of written exams, individual / group assignments, as well as group projects will be given throughout the course.
