IED300 Introduction to Computer- and System Science, AI 15.0 ECTS credits | |
TIMEPERIOD: Q I, Q II LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Svante Edzen Univ adj PREREQUISITES General qualifications. COURSE AIM The aim of the course is to give the student a comprehensive view of the subject field. This includes knowledge of data systems and computer systems, software development, systems development and database technics. CONTENTS Computer science (10%) - Fundamental principles of hardware and software which includes knowledge of: - operating system - data storing - application programs - hardware architecture - data communication Systems development (40%) - An introduction to systems development which includes knowledge of - different models/methods and their application in systems development - technics for analysis and description of administrative data processing systems - external demands on administrative data processing systems; for example the Data Protection Act Software development (40%) - An introduction to programming which includes knowledge of - fundamental language elements - algorithms - user interface design - register management Data base technics (10%) - Introduction to database management systems which includes knowledge of - relational database technics - programming (query) language for construction and management of the database TEACHING The work of the student is problem based and surveying. Normally teaching take the form of lessons, lectures, seminars, project works and laboratory works. EXAMINATION Written examination,required assignments and compulsory participation in seminars. Written examination: Part 1 (computer science) Part 2 (systems development) Part 3 (software development) Part 4 (data base technics) The student will receive 10.5 credits when all parts are written and passed.
