PREREQUISITES
A-level (first year)

COURSE AIM
To teach the techniques of logic programming and give an introduction to principles of artificial intelligence.

CONTENTS
What is Intelligence ?

The ability to acquire and retain knowledge;
The ability to respond quickly and successful to a new situation (reasoning);
The ability to learn or understand from experience.

Any computer system that consist of these fundamental components may be regarded as an Intelligent System. The study of ideas that enable computer to
be intelligent, is the science of making human-made machine to emulate or simulate human methods for the deductive and inductive acquisition and
application of knowledge and reason.

What is the course about?

Our framework is based on two concepts: Representation and Reasoning.

The main issues are, how to represent knowledge about some domain and how to use the knowledge to answer questions and solve problems. The
procedure is:

First,
we have a world domain that we want to characterize a domain in which we want to answer questions and solve problems.
Eg.: medicine, a few toy blocks on a table, or taxation system.
Second,
we want to assert knowledge about domain. This will be both knowledge about what is true in that domain as well as heuristic knowledge about
how to solve problem in that domain.
Third,
we then want to reason this knowledge to solve problems and produce answers.
