TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English/Swedish EXAMINER Lars-Åke Larzon Doktorand PREREQUISITES Passed SMD011/SMD112/SMD038 (Impererative Programming) or simular. COURSE AIM To gve basic knowledge about computer networks and communication protocols, especially the central protocols and mechanisms in the Internet. CONTENTS Introduction to computer networks and internetworking Network programming, sliding window protocols Application protocols (HTTP, FTP, RTP, RTSP, TELNET) Internet protocols (IP, TCP, UDP) Routing, error detection and recovery Network technologies (Ethernet, PPP, WLAN) Multimedia networking, network security TEACHING The course consists of a number of moments, some mandatory and some chooseable, of different type and with separate examination. Some of the course moments assumes that the students plan their available time by themselves. The structure of the course makes it necessary for students that do not pass to retake the entire course next time it is given. EXAMINATION Continous examination of different types in each course moment. Course grade scale: U, 3, 4, 5.
