TIMEPERIOD: Quarter III LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER David Carr Univ lekt PREREQUISITES Passed SMD011/SMD012/SMD038 Imperative Programming (orSMD091) or equivalent or SMD109. SMD044/SMD057 or other project course is recommended. COURSE AIM The aim of the course is to give the student some insight into how programs and computer systems should be designed so that the end-user perceives the system as useful. After the course the student should be able to design the user interface for simple systems as well as evaluate existing systems. CONTENTS Basics: human cognitive properties. Mental models. Models of human computer interaction. Interaction styles: Command language, Forms-fills, Menus, Graphical User Interfaces, Direct Manipulation. Sound. Speech. New interaction techniques.
