TIMEPERIOD: Quarter I LANGUAGE:English/Swedish EXAMINER Ulf Ranhagen Adj prof PREREQUISITES SBT010 or equivalent courses. COURSE AIM The aim of the course is to give the student knowledge of the theories and applied methods in physical planning, and their present trends, with focus on comprehencive and strategic spatial planning. After the course the student shall have acquired methods to analyse and present complicated planning tasks. CONTENTS History. Town planning during the last decades. Critical discussions about the physical planning during thev 1990`s and its consequenses. The present planning systems. Different formal and informal planning tools. Examples from differnet regions and municipalities in Sweden. The planning process, consultation and public participation. Methods for physical planning. Iterative and dynamic versus linear and static planning models. Steps in the planning process: analysis of the conditions, program, creating of the alternatives, evaluation, presentation. Sustainable physical planning. Examples of methods to integrate social and ecological considerations. Project work. Strategic planning of an integrated residential area. The task will be choosen to make it possible to co-ordinate the course with a the course ARA005 Planning and Design of the Industrial Plant. TEACHING Seminars and lectures will give the theoretical background, illustrated with practical problems and possible solutions within planning, to the main task - the project work. The project work is carried out in groups. Each student present a paper in the seminars. A written test is carried out during the course. EXAMINATION COURSE GRADE SCALE: U, 3, 4, 5 ITEMS/CREDITS | |
