TIMEPERIOD: Quarter II LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Fredrik Salén Univ adj PREREQUISITES SBG001 or equivalent COURSE AIM The course will give an deepened understanding into methods for cartographic visualisation. The course is intended for GIS users in general who want to work with simpler visualisation tools. CONTENTS Basic concepts, cartography present and past Laws and regulations, map maintenance Basic cartographic rules, visual variables, cartographic design Typography Lettering a map Colour systems, colour synthesis, screening Generalization Maps from different data sources Maps for different kinds of media, WWW, handheld devices such as mobile phones and PDAs. TEACHING Lectures, seminar and laboratory work. Participation in seminar and laboratory work is compulsory. A compulsory assignment with a written report and oral presentation.
