TIMEPERIOD: Quarter II LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER A Östman Prof PREREQUISITES General eligibility for admission. COURSE AIM The course will give an introduction to the techniques of geographic information systems and its use in the community. The student will aquire knowledge about concepts, terminology, tools and the role of different organisations. CONTENTS Basic concepts: Definitions, history, market overview. Data capture: Surveying, GPS, photogrammetry, remote sensing, scanning. Data modelling: Konceptual modelling, data structures. Geographic analysis: Topology, vector analysis, network analysis, raster analysis, DEM. Initiation of GIS in organisations: Information analysis, economy. Applications. TEACHING Lectures and laboratory work. EXAMINATION Written examination and approved laboratory work. COURSE GRADE SCALE: U, 3, 4, 5 ITEMS/CREDITS | |
