Theories and modells for reaction mechanisms in organic chemical reactions
Organic chemical reactions
Methods of analysis and purification of organic compounds
Protein structure and function
Carbohydrate structure and function
Fats, lipids and biological membranes - structure and function
Transport of materia and information within, and between, cells
Models for enzymatic catalysis and regulation of enzyme activity
The organisation and expression of the genetic material
Recombinant DNA-techniques
Main pathways in carbohydrate, fatty acis, and amino acid metabolism
Photosynthesis

Item 1.
Fundamental concepts and general laboratory skills.
Inorganic nomenclature and chemical equations.
Ideal and real gases.
Gas kinetics
Basic thermochemistry and thermodynamics.
The structure of the atom and the periodic table.
Chemical bonding and molecular orbital theory.
The acid-base concept.
Chemical equilibria in homogenous and heterogeneous systems.

TEACHING
The instruction consists of lectures and laboratory classes. The laboratory classes are compulsory.

EXAMINATION
Written exams, which are graded.
Laboratory reports.
