PREREQUISITES
Basic course in chemistry (KMK013, KMK042, KMK049, KMK060, KMK061 or corresponding).


COURSE AIM
The course shall provide a basic knowledge of chemical equilibrium systems and ability to perform equilibrium calculations, especially in water solutions.


CONTENTS
Different equilibrium principles, applicable to industrial systems and natural waters, are studied with the use of diagrams and mathematical calculations. The influence of temperature, ionic strength as well as the alkalinity concept will be discussed.
The theory is applied during laboratory experiments.



TEACHING
The instruction consists of lectures, lessons and compulsory laboratory classes.


EXAMINATION
Graded written exam and passed laboratory reports.
