COURSE AIM
The course should give a fundamental knowledge in organic chemistry in order to facilitate further studies in, e.g, cellulose chemistry, environmental technology and chemical safety.


CONTENTS
Chemical bonding in organic chemistry
Organic nomenclature
Structure and isomerism
Physical and chemical properties of organic compounds
Theories and modells for reaction mechanisms in organic chemical reactions
Organic chemical reactions
Methods of analysis and purification of organic compounds



TEACHING
The course is presented in the form of lectures and laboratory exercises. The laboratory exercises are compulsory.


EXAMINATION
Approved laboratory reports and an approved written examination with differentiated grades.
