TIMEPERIOD: Q I LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER Wen-Bin Li Univ lekt PREREQUISITES Basic knowledge of materials science. COURSE AIM The course will give a deeper understanding of the mechanical behaviour (elasticity, plasticity and fracture) of crystalline materials, based on theories and microstructure observed under different stress and deformation conditions. CONTENTS Theory of the mechanics of materials: dislocation theory; plastic deformation and strengthening mechanisms; mechanical response of materials at high temperature. Fracture and time dependent plasticity: element of fracture mechanics; creep; fatigue; friction and internal friction etc. TEACHING Lectures, exercises and laboratory work EXAMINATION Written examination at the end of the course.
