TIMEPERIOD: Q III LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Karl-Evert Fällström Univ lekt PREREQUISITES PÄN405. COURSE AIM The course will give the student a knowledge of geometrical optics, optical instrumentation and physical optics and applications of optics in modern engineering. CONTENTS Foundation of geometrical optics. Imaging by lenses and systems of lenses. Matrix methods for construction and analysis of lens systems. Aberrations and simple means to reduce them. Cameras microscopes, telescopes and other optical instruments. Computer methods to design, analyze and optimise optical systems. Optical instruments, computer and laboratory work. Interference of light. Fraunhofer and Fresnel diffraction. Polarisation. Birefringence. Interferometry, holography and other applications. Measurement by optical techniques. The student had to plan and carry out lessons in optics for pupils or students. TEACHING Lectures, demonstrations and laboratory work. EXAMINATION Written examination of the end of the course.
