PREREQUISITES
Quantum Physics.

COURSE AIM
The purpose is to present the basic theory of atomic physics, with attention to its foundations in quantum physics. In addition, an important aspect will be the experimental visulization of atomic physics, in particular through applied analytical methods.


CONTENTS
The structure of atoms and molecules, interaction with electric and magnetic fields, radiation and scattering processes. Spectroscopical methods used in academic, industrial and envoronmental reserch, such as UV,optical,IR and microwave spectroscopy, Raman scattering and magnetic resonance techniques (ESR,NMR).

A number of laboratory exercises illustrates important features of the corse.

TEACHING
Class lectures covers theory in addition to problem solution seminars. Compulsory seminar work and laboratory exercises.
