ARE056 Psychosocially Supportive Design 3.0 ECTS credits |
TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER H Shanavaz Prof PREREQUISITES Posses a bachelor´s degree in science or 120 university points in the field of science or equivalent and have a good knowledge in English. COURSE AIM The aim of the course is to provide knowledge on how design of working environment could affect our health and well-being. The program deals with the form, spatial design and the perception of physical, environment, interior design, form and material as well as light colours, sound and smell within the working environment.
The basic function of design is to challenge our minds and to start a mental process by attracting human attention. This can stop or at least reduce anxiety and can thereby bring about positive psychological changes. Psychosocially supportive working environment should challenge our mind in order to create emotion, pleasure, stimulation, creativity, satisfaction, enjoyment and admiratoin.
The overall aim of this course is to discuss the basic requirement of phychosocially supportive design as an integral part of working environment.
Part two: the students shall individually or in small groups choose different working environment and describe different aspects of design identifying wellness factor within the working environment. This could be also different health facilities like elderly, design for dementia, psychiatric unit, health centre of wellness island, facilities with hotel function, spa, pool, music, seminar activities, as well as industrial working environments etc.
