TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER H Shanavaz Prof PREREQUISITES Possess a bachelor's degree in science or 120 university points in the field of science or equivalent and have a good knowledge in English. COURSE AIM Module 1: To highlight the trend of ergonomics in the wold and introduce some ergonomic applications and success stories. Module 2: To provide theoretical knowledge in basic ergonomics and practical solutions for improving working conditions from ergonomics point of view. Module 3: The objective is to inform and train students in techniques that will provide relevant information for designing of a new human/machine system or evaluating an existing system design. CONTENTS Module 1: Case studies in ergonomics. Ergonomics and its objectives; current ergonomics and work environment problems at various work places; different areas of ergonomic applications and the trend of ergonomics research and activities. Module 2: Working conditions techniques (Ergonomic Checkpoint). Material storage and handling, hand tools, productive machine safety, improving work station design, lighting, control of hazardous substances and agents, welfare facilities, work organization. Module 3: Job and task analysis. It contains systematic analysis of human task requirements and /or task behavior for updating and improving the existing system. TEACHING Module 1: Lectures and compulsory assignment; the student shall work individually, or in small groups, in carrying out a case study in ergonomics and present their findings with recommendations. Module 2: Lectures, group work and practical application of learned material. Module 3: Lectures and compulsory assignments. EXAMINATION Module 1: Carrying out individual or group mini-project on ergonomics application and forwarding a written report. Oral questions during presentation. Module 2: Group report from a practical case. Module 3: Essay.
