ARE039 Ergonomics in Manual Materials Handling 3.0 ECTS credits | |
TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER Bob Bridger Prof PREREQUISITES Possess a bachelor's degree in science or 120 university points in the field of science or equivalent and have a good knowledge in English. COURSE AIM The course will help students to understand the problems involved in manual material handling, different ways people handle load manually and development of strategies for assessing and establishing manual handling guidelines. The basic approach will be to develop methods for evaluating the problems of MMH in industry through observations, participation, reference collection and discussions to better understand the MMH system's behavior. CONTENTS An overview on different MMH models and ways people handle load manually, selection of particular modes of load carrying in industry, understanding of problems associated with MMH by using simulation techniques/industrial visit, group participation, reference collection, develop a method for assessing MMH in the industry. TEACHING Lectures, industrial visit, group discussion, simulation study, library search, case study. EXAMINATION Submission of research report and group assessment.
