TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER José Santoro Dr PREREQUISITES Possess a bachelor's degree in science or 120 university points in the field of science or equivalent and have a good knowledge in English. COURSE AIM To provide a basic understanding of work-place health hazards, their possible prevention, intervention and relation to productivity and quality of life. CONTENTS Introduction to occupational health. Risks and exposure. Accident. Physical, chemical and biological agents and exposures. Ergonomics and musculo-skeletal exposures, psycho-social aspects. Patterns of work-related hazards. Health problems in the informal sector. Legislation discussions. Occupational safety and health management and strategies. TEACHING Lectures, and discussions.
