TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER Jorma Saari, Finnish Inst of Occupational Hea Prof PREREQUISITES Possess a bachelor's degree in science or 120 university points in the field of science or equivalent and have a good knowledge in English. COURSE AIM The course will provide the student with better understanding of accidents and safety at work and with respect to human factors. It will also provide knowledge of economics of accidents, traditional safety work, strategies and housekeeping. CONTENTS Safety management; safety technology; legislation; traditional safety work; strategies and methods of safety; housekeeping; economics of occupational injuries and accidents; characteristics of good quality of work life TEACHING Lectures and practical exercises on accident prevention methods EXAMINATION Classroom assessment, presentation of case studies or a short essay.
