COURSE AIM
The aims of the course are that students acquire knowledge of colonial powers, colonial peoples, different cultural heritages, globalisation and multiculture.


CONTENTS
Global modern history from a non-European perspective. This course will focus on the historical development in modern time in North America, Latin America, South Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Australia and New Zealand. Emphasis is placed on the postcolonial period and the construction of a national identity. Lectures, discussions and prescribed texts will be in English, and it is an advantage if the course participants represent different countries and cultures.

TEACHING
The teaching will consist of lectures, lessons, seminars and group work. The language used in teaching is English.


EXAMINATION
Written and oral examination, individually and in groups.
