TIMEPERIOD: I, III LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Å Löfgren Univ adj PREREQUISITES None COURSE AIM AIM OF COURSE - To give a general picture of earlier aspirations towards an integration of Europe. - To give an understanding of the European Unions background and organization as well as political, judical and economical conditions in todays Europe. - To shed light on the consequences that the Swedish EU membership will have. CONTENTS CONTENTS Course A: - A summary of Europes history before 1945 with emphasis on the efforts towards integration. - Swedens relationship to Europe in a historical perspective. Course B: - The creation of the EU and other European institutions. - The EU:s organization structure and decision making apparatus. - Political development both within and outside the European Union. - Supranationality and EU law. - Economic development and trade relations with the rest of the world. - The Europe of the future. Course C: - The economic development and politics concerning the security of the state in Sweden since 1945. - Swedens path to EU membership as well as the impact the membership has had on different aspects of society life.
