SMS023 Discrete-time Signal Processing 6.0 ECTS credits | |
TIMEPERIOD: Quarter 2 (2000) LANGUAGE:English/Swedish EXAMINER Anders Grennberg Bitr professor PREREQUISITES Signals and Systems I and II, SMS020 and SMS021, or equivalent. COURSE AIM The goal of this course is to substantially increase the student's understanding for discrete- time signal processing. The course is also intended as a good preparation for postgraduate studies in signal processing and related areas. CONTENTS Linear and time invariant (LTI) systems, sampling of continuous-time signals, the z-transform, stability, the discrete-time Fourier transform (DFT), Fourier analysis, time-frequency analysis, implementation of discrete-time filters, quantization effects, filter design, decimation, interpolation and fast Fourier transforms. Stochastic signals and spectral estimation. As an important complement to the teory, a part of the course is devoted to exercises with discrete-time signal processing tools in practical situations.
