TIMEPERIOD: Quarter 1 LANGUAGE: EXAMINER Mats Blomquist Univ adj PREREQUISITES General and specific eligibility for the BSc and MSc programmes in computer science or electrical engineering. A basic course in Imperative Programming (SMD109 or SMD091) is desired. COURSE AIM The course shall provide basic insight into analysis and design of digital circuit using manual methods and computer tools. CONTENTS Combinational and sequential logic design principles and practices. Minimization methods. Timing and hazard. State machine analysis and design. Standard circuits (e.g. multiplexter, comparator, adder, counter, shif register). Computer tools for specification, design and simulation of logic circuits. TEACHING The teaching will take the form of lectures, lessons and laboratory work. Part of the lessons are used for project guidance. Laboratory work are compulsory.
