TIMEPERIOD: Quarter III LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Mats Billstein Licentiat PREREQUISITES SBW011 or SBW012 COURSE AIM To give the foundations of open channel flow and recipient hydraulics. CONTENTS Open channel flow: Uniform and gradually varied flow: the Manning equation, hydraulic jump, sub- and supercritical flow. Hydraulic structures: Sharp-crested weirs, Contracted weirs, Vee weirs, Control gates, Spillways (WES). Surge waves: positive and negative waves, propagation speed. Sediment transportation: design of stable alluvial channels, bottom load, suspended load, bottom configuration, critical shear stress, etc.
