TIMEPERIOD: Quarter IV LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER P Erixon Univ adj PREREQUISITES Appointed to course Environmental Law (IER329) COURSE AIM To give the student ability to understand the fundaments of ecology, ecotoxicology and environmental protection and to analyse in what ways the remedies of environmental law can be used to prevent, counteract or recitify a concrete environmental problem. CONTENTS General ecology. Structure and function of ecosystems, diversity and richness of species, energy flow and pathways of elements in the ecosystems. Ecology of organisms, populations and communities. Field trip to common ecosystems in the Luleå region. Ecotoxicology. Transport of pollutants in air, soil and water and its effects on ecosystems, organisms and human health. Environmental law. The student shall write a paper in which a concrete environmental problem shall be analysed and possible legel solutions pointed out and discussed.
