TIMEPERIOD: Q I LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Lieve Lindberg-Paumen Univ adj PREREQUISITES Basic qualifications COURSE AIM The course provides basic knowledge in general chemistry that will facilitate the understanding of future chemistry courses. CONTENTS Fundamental concepts of chemistry, naming chemical compounds, chemical reactions and chemical equations, concentration, stoichiometrical calculations, titrations, the ideal gas law, electrolysis, thermochemistry, enthalpi. The structure of the atom, chemical bonding, molecular-orbital theory, intermolecular forces. Thermodynamics : entropy, free energy, equilibrium constant, principles of chemical equilibrium. TEACHING The instruction consists of lectures and compulsory laboratory classes. EXAMINATION A written examination which is grades, passed laboratory reports.
