TIMEPERIOD: Q III LANGUAGE:English/Swedish EXAMINER Mats Lindberg Univ lekt PREREQUISITES PÄN400, PÄN404 och PÄN405 COURSE AIM The course should give a fundamental knowledge of organic chemistry in order to faciliate further studies in e.g. cellulose chemistry, environmental technology and chemical safety. The course should also give a general knowledge in didactics for chemistry. CONTENTS Chemical bonding in organic chemistry Organic nomenclature Structure and isomerism Physical and chemical properties of organic compounds Theories and models for reaction mechanisms in organic chemical reactions Organic chemical reactions Methods of analysis and purification of organic compounds Didactics for chemistry TEACHING The course is presented in the form of lectures and laboratory exercises. The didactics consists of supervised selfstudies. The laboratory exercises are compulsory. EXAMINATION Approved laboratory reports and an approved written examination with differentiated grades.
