General eligibility for admission to university courses and a good knowledge of English.

COURSE AIM
To provide an understanding of the nature of ergonomics Consultancies, how they work, how one can be started and what are the essential ingredients for developing them into a successful enterprise.

CONTENTS
The nature and structure of Consultancies; The role of Consultancies in the field of ergonomics; The market for ergonomics Consultancies; the essential ingredients for starting a Consultancy; Basic resources required; Type of services that can be provided; Financial control in a small business enterprise; Recruiting and staffing a Consultancy and qualifications of staff; Being an employer; Insurance and protection; Networking; Marketing ergonomics; Funding sources; Negotiating commissions; Writing proposals; Developing client relationships; Professional standards; Contributing to the field of ergonomics; Links with Ergonomics Societies; How to become successful.

TEACHING
The teaching will mainly be in the form of lectures and compulsory seminars. Each student will undertake compulsory practical work.

EXAMINATION
Written tests and coursework.
