Matrix algebra
Basic knowledge of MATLAB
Basic knowledge of strength of materials and structural mechanics, displacement method and energy principles.

COURSE AIM
To give students ability of formulate, analyze and solve structural engineering problems numerically. To give detailed knowledge of stress-, deformation- and stability-analyzis for plane trusses and frames with modern computer methods.

CONTENTS
Element analysis for trusses and beams with boundary conditions and loads.
System analysis, assembly of global stiffness matrix and solution of displacements and support reactions.
Stability analysis and influence of axial force in frame analysis.
Project work: MATLAB scripts for analysis of trusses and frames including frame stability.


TEACHING
The teaching consists of lectures and project work.
Project work are compulsory.

EXAMINATION
Written examination at the end of the course.
Computer examination (use your own scripts) and the end of the course.
Project work.
