COURSE AIM
The course should give an introduction to and knowledge of the different parts of the geograpgical subject as well as of basic geographical concepts.


CONTENTS
ITEM 1. Subject Survey, Chartography, Physical Geography
The item is introduced with a subject survey. The co-operation between physical and cultural geography is illustrated. Cartography is introduced and cartographical practices complement the rest of the teaching. The item continues with a survey of the construction of the earth, minerals, rocks, endogenic and exogenic forces. Weather and climate are dealt with. The item also includes obligatory excursions.
ITEM 2. Population and Environment
The item has a social geographical-orientation and its purpose is to illustrare the relation man-environment from basis of population geograpgy. Environmental issues, both local and global, are dealt with. Statistics and cartographical practices are also part of the item.
ITEM 3. Regional Geography
The aim of the item is to give a survey of the co-operation nature-man in different regions and therefore give an increased understanding of how production and social structure have developed and changed. Statistical and cartographical practices are part ot the item.


TEACHING
Lectures, lessons, groupe practices, laboratory work and seminars.The seminars and group practices are obligatory. Obligatory excursions and educational visits, there can be a small fee, are part of the course.


EXAMINATION
The examination is through obligatory work assignments and written examination. Examination is given at the end of each item. All tests and obligatory items must be passed to get a grade. If you get the grade pass, you can not do the examination again to get a higher grade.
