Applicants must have completed the course PÄS 020.

COURSE AIM
The aims of the course are that students:
- develop ability to illuminate different aspects of the fields of recreation science, leisure and nature, leisure and sports and leisure and society
- develop ability to discuss and account for the significance of the different fields from a gender, immigrant, handicap and age perspective
- acquire knowledge of the meaning of democracy and of the democratic process
- gain familiarity with present public discussions on equality
- acquire knowledge of associations and organizations at local, district and national level
- gain knowledge of the growth, organization and activities of old and new popular movements
- gain insight into leisure as a commercial industry
- acquire knowledge of the organizations for outdoor life, their activities, finances, and basis of recruitment

- Social change in a historical perspective
- The growth and organization of popular movements
- New popular movements
- Associations and organizations
- Gender, power and leisure
- Project work on leisure in Sweden
- Fundamentals of physical geography and ethnogeography
- Sports and physical welfare


TEACHING
Lessons, seminars, excursions, field studies and project work.

EXAMINATION
Written and oral examination, individually and in group. Evaluation of work experience period, which includes an assignment and a report.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
