TIMEPERIOD: Q2 LANGUAGE:English/Swedish EXAMINER Lars-Erik Nyman Univ lekt PREREQUISITES General entrance requirements COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that students: - gain knowledge of the different ways in which racism can express itself in society - learn how to make up a long-range plan of action against racism - acquire comprehensive knowledge of the research of the last few years on adolescents/children and racism CONTENTS - Racism and hostility towards foreigners as a social phenomenon - Research on children and racism - Bullying - Plan of action against racism for pre schools, comprehensive school, and day centers for school children - Processes of socialization - Biology of evolution - The responsibilities of politicians - Cultural patterns TEACHING Lessons, lectures and field studies. A plan of action against racism will be made up during the course. Theoretical and practical work will be integrated. EXAMINATION Written and oral examination, individually and in group.
