TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Peter Wall Tekn lic PREREQUISITES First year mathematics, MAM039 or similar COURSE AIM To give - basic knowledge about using floating point arithmetic on computers - knowledge about principles for construction of numerical algorithms - knowledge about numerical algorithms for some different applications - ability to use numerical software and to evaluate the accuracy of the result - knowledge about some important transformation techniques for solving ordinary and partial differential equations. CONTENTS Error analysis and computer arithmetic. Numerical methods for nonlinear equations, linear system of equations, linear eigenvalue problems, interpolation, approximation, integration, and ordinary differential equations including systems of ODE. Solving ordinary differential equations using power series, Fourier series, and Laplace transform. Modelling and solving problems with partial differential equations.
