PREREQUISITES
Basic mineralogy or geology.

COURSE AIM
The students will after the course be able to identify some of the most important rock- and ore forming minerals in the microscope and know the possibilities and limitations of the method.

CONTENTS
The petrographic microscope. Mineral properties in polarized light. Minerals in reflected light.
Study of technical properties as grain size and shapes, porosity , grain boundaries and mineral distribution.


TEACHING
Lectures will be given in Swedish.
