air conditioning, drying of solids with air. Methods for the evaluation and dimensioning
of distillation equipment, multicomponent distillation. Leaching and extraction: Mass
transfer and equipment for leaching, countercurrent leaching and calculations of washing
stages, solids-liquid and liquid-liquid extraction, ideal extraction stage. Absorption:
Physical and chemical absorption, Lobo curve, choice of packing material and
dimensioning of absorption towers. Fluidisation: Characteristics of fluidised systems,
liquid-solid and gas-solid systems, heat and mass transfer aspects, applications of
fluidised solids technique. Gas cleaning: Introduction to gas cleaning and gas cleaning
equipment.

TEACHING
The course is presented in the form of lectures, tutorials and laboratory excercises. The
laboratory excercises are compulsory.
