To show that the engineer has the responsibility and means for environmentally conscious engineering. To introduce the engineering students to a basis for making environmentally conscious choices when selecting materials, designing products and systems. CONTENTS Introduction to environmentally conscious manufacturing. Examples of the use of life cycle analysis. Design and materials selection for durability, reuse and recycling. Methods for recycling of materials. Environmental aspects on production and use of energy. Environmental thinking in relation to economy, technology, legislation and work environment.
