COURSE AIM
The course aims at developing the basic knowledge of fluid mechanics with the physical relations formulated on differential equation form. It will give experience on technologically important flows and also application of the mathematical methods studied in the undergraduate curriculum.


CONTENTS
Extent of each part in %
Basic concepts (20%):
Streamlines, streaklines; laws for mass, momentum and energy
Inviscid flow (30%):
Potential flow; elementary solutions of Laplace's equation, lift theory
Viscous flow (50%):
Exact solutions of the Navier-Stokes eqs, boundary layers, stability and laminar-to-turbulent transition, turbulent flow.

Class room teaching.


EXAMINATION
Home work assignments and exam according to alternative A. Well conducted home work will be counted in the final grade.
