PREREQUISITES
MTF302 Force and motion, MAM083 Calculus and number systems, MAM084 Algebra, geometry.

COURSE AIM
To give the student basic knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics and electricity and the ability to teach children such topics in elementary school.

CONTENTS
Thermodynamics:
- fluid mechanics
- temperature and heat
- heat transfer: conduction, convection, radioactive
- thermal properties of matter
- the first and second laws of thermodynamics
Electricity:
- electric charge and electric field
- sources of electric field
- electric potential
- capacitance and dielectrics
- current, resistance, and electromotive force
- direct-current circuits
- magnetic field and magnetic forces
- sources of magnetic filed
- electromagnetic induction
- inductance
- alternating currents
- electromagnetic waves

TEACHING
In addition to lessons with theory-explanation and problem-solving, the education consists of compulsory laboratory work and preparation of demonstrations to be presented to the other students either orally or in writing. The course will be characterised by high student activity.

In cooperation with the course MAM083 the students perform a 3 week period in an elementary school. A written report concludes this work.

Labinstructions: Värmetransport, Kompressorvärmepump

REMARKS
Responsible for the part treating thermodynamics are Roger Hermansson and Jan Dahl and for the part treating electricity are Marie Finnström and Bo Kjellmert.

This course cannot be included om the degree together with the courses MTF012, MTF069, MTF430 and MTF056 .
