PREREQUISITES
General eligibility for admission to university courses and a good knowledge in English.

COURSE AIM
To identify the specific ergonomics problems in industrially developing countries. To discuss how ergonomics can be applied for improving the working conditions and productivity in 3rd world countries. To illustrate the importance of human factor consideration in the process of technology transfer for acquiring appropriate technology.

CONTENTS
Specific work environment problems in Developing Countries (DCs); Fundamental differences in man at work system between DCs and Industrialized Countries (ICs); Application of simple and practical measures in ergonomics for improving working conditions in DCs; Endeavour of DCs for industrialization; The role of technology in the process of development; Human factor considerations in the process of technology transfer; Appropriate technology for DCs.

TEACHING
After giving formal lectures the students shall form into groups of 2 or 3 and discuss and prepare a report of a successful technology transfer process.

EXAMINATION
Classroom continous assessment and presentation of a successful technology transfer process.
