COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to give basic knowledge of strength of materials, as well as bar and beam analysis.

CONTENTS
Basics of strength of materials: Stresses and strains, relations and transformations
Bars: Calculations of stresses, strains and deformations
Beams: Calculations of moments, shear forces and deformations in bending
Calculations of stresses from bending and torsion. Assignment: Construction of a statically determinate frame. Laborations: Measuring of strains and deflections on a steel beam.
Measuring and comparing stresses in different directions on a pressurized tube with Mohrs circle of stress.

TEACHING
The teaching consists of lectures, exercises and assignments. Assignments are compulsory.

EXAMINATION
Written examination at the end of the course. Assignments.
