TIMEPERIOD: T 6 LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER Gunilla Asplund Univ adj PREREQUISITES To have passed the courses KSP011 and KSP012 or KSP013 and KSP022 COURSE AIM The aim of the course is to: - improve the students' communicative competence in speech and writing - give students the opportunity to practise their speech in different situations - deepen the students' knowledge in the theory of language learning and didactics - provide the students with knowledge about different types of literature that they can use when working with children through reading literature for young people - provide knowledge about videos and computers as aids in language education - provide in-depth knowledge in grammar - provide the students with a true picture of English language usage through reading different types of texts - provide knowledge of the conditions under which people live in English-speaking countries CONTENTS Literature from the field of language with emphasis on literature for children and young people Cultural studies Communication, to develop the language both in speech and in writing. Didactics Grammar Phonetics, provide increased knowledge about English pronunciation, phonetic transcription, intonation and varieties of pronunciation. TEACHING Communicative exercises in speech and writing Seminars which are combined with practical examples Working individually and in groups Group discussions Staying in a target language country A native teacher should be involved in teaching the course EXAMINATION The students will be graded on both oral and written assignments, that will be carried out individually and in groups.
