PREREQUISITES
To have passed the courses KSP001 and KSP002 specializing in art.

COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to provide the students with increased insight and communicative abilities within the area of art as well as to give them competence in teaching art in compulsory school and the ability to use art as an educational aid in all school work.

The students should have basic knowledge about:
- pictorial communication both at individual and at social levels
- the presentation of art in different materials and techniques
- the role of the art in different contexts and varying cultures
- the art as a bearer of meanings, ideas and contents besides those represented
- the history of art and culture
- creativeness in art for children

The students should work on and develop:
- their own attitudes and values concerning creativity in art and pictorial communication
- Their own creative skills in art

The students should be able to use:
- their knowledge of art education in compulsory school
- art in all aspects of school work

CONTENTS
Broadening and specializing in work areas from earlier courses: further means of expressions with design, colour, tones and lines.
Pictorial art. Art as a cultural language and a universal one.
Children's art.
Picture productions by students for use in teaching. Illustrations from teaching materials. Handwriting. Exhibitions.

TEACHING
Methods of working in concrete, practical and experimental ways, individually and in groups. Project work, seminars, educational visits and field studies.
Topical guest lecturers

EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on practical and experimental work as well as on self-study assignments, assignment reports and course literature
