COURSE AIM
The aims of the course are that students: - develop ability to illuminate different theories that has to do with people's need of leisure - develop ability to define the concept of leisure from a psychological, economic, societal and social perspective - acquire knowledge of how the development of society directs people's need of and possibilities for recreational activities - develop ability to high-light the environmental problems and possibilities that different types of recreational activities can bring about

ITEM 1. People's need of leisure, 2 credits Different groups' need of recreational activities Different groups' choice of recreational activities Group processes Leadership ITEM 2. Society and leisure, 4 credits Leisure and the public sector (recreational and cultural policy) Leisure as a commercial industry (laws, regulations, policies - economic conditions, institutional framework) The ideology and politics of leisure (popular movements, action groups, interest groups, organized leisure) Leisure in different age structures Gender, power and leisure Global perspective ITEM 3. Nature and leisure, 4 credits Possibilities of leisure and recreation in nature Outdoor life Ecological tourism today and in the future Perspectives of physical geography

TEACHING
The teaching will consist of lessons, seminars, field studies and excursions.

EXAMINATION
Written and oral examination, individually and in group, and participation in seminars.
