PREREQUISITES
General entrance requirements and course admission requirements for recreation instructor training.

COURSE AIM
The aims of the course are that students:
- gain insight into the development of leisure and its import to people in society of today and tomorrow
- acquire knowledge of the professional role of a recreation instructor, its ethics and the requirements that society attached to it
- acquire knowledge of the goals and basis of values of the child care system for school children
- acquire knowledge of other spheres of activities in which the child care system for school children is involved
- develop understanding and self-knowledge of their role as educational leaders for groups of children and youths, and of their role as members of a work group
- develop their sense of responsibility in cooperation and collaboration with others
- develop their ability to reflect, analyze and draw conclusions

- The growth of the child care system for school children
- The professional role of a recreation instructor
- Recreation activities as a complement to school
- Policy and procedure guidelines/requirements
- Ethics, morals and questions of values
- Responsibility and secrecy
- Parental cooperation
- School computer networks - Internet


TEACHING
Lectures, lessons, seminars and group-work.
Theory and practice will be integrated.
Planning, realization and evaluation of activities with individual children and with groups of children.


EXAMINATION
Written and oral examination, individually and in group.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
