COURSE AIM
ITEM 1, Social Subjects
The aim of the course is:
-to give an insight into the political, economical, ecological and religious conditions that exist in our own time,
-the students should acquire skills in modern information technology ,
-give didactic understanding and skills of the teaching subject matter,
-the students should acquire methodical knowledge that is required to be able to teach according to the intentions of the curriculum in Swedish/Social Subjects,
-work on and develop background, aim and method of the Degree Project.
ITEM 2, Swedish
The aim of the course is to:
-give a survey of the development of t he Swedish language over the years,
-give a survey of our neighbouring languages,
-give an in-depth knowledge of children´s literature and youth literature and of adult´s literature.


CONTENTS
ITEM 1, Social Subjects
General and Swedish History from 1789 to present times.
Ethics, Man and the vital questions.
The World religions and alternative religious activities.
Climatology in a global perspective.
Relevant religions.
Environmental issues - natural resources.
Constitutions of foreign countries.
Environment and society.
ITEM 2, Swedish
Linguistic changes illustrated with texts from different time periods.
Linguistic changes in the Swedish of the 20 th century.
The linguistic situation in the Nordic countries (especially Norwegian and Danish).
Reading of Norwegian and Danish texts.
Children´s literature and youth literature for the grades 4-7 and popular literature (about 5 books).
Comtemorary fictions for adults (2-3 novels).
Literary didactic in the compulsory comprehensive school.


TEACHING
ITEM 1, Social Subjects
Theme work during term 6:"Development and Environment from a Social Perspective"
Facts will be found, in part, with help from a modern information technology.
Every subject in the course should have a didactic/methodical direction.
The form of the teaching is lectures, lessons, group works, individual works, and educational visits.
ITEM 2, Swedish
Lectures, lessons, seminare practices, group discussions.

Written compulsory assignments and assessments of course assignments.
