TIMEPERIOD: Q3-Q4 LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Crister Björk Univ adj PREREQUISITES Degree in education. COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that students acquire knowledge of: - technology as a subject in comprehensive school according to the curriculum of 1994, and the formulation of local syllabuses - everyday technology and technology at home as basis for teaching - a few technical fields suitable for technical teaching in comprehensive school - different methods in the didactics of technical teaching, and the technical interest of boys and girls - technology as support for scientific investigations, and vice versa - local history of technology Students are also to gain familiarity with: - the development of technology in a historical perspective - the significance of science to the development of society and our physical environment - safety aspects of practical technical teaching CONTENTS ITEM 1. The content and identity of technology as a school subject according to policy and procedure guidelines/requirements. Analyses of and approaches to everyday technology including technical applications in the home environment. Electricity and electronics. Questions of safety. Links between science and technology. Planning of technical items. ITEM 2. Technology in a historical perspective and its links to local history of technology. Tools, material and tooling methods. Links between science and technology. A few applications in the fields of technics of measurement, steering technique and automatic control technology. Computers and technology. Individual development work. TEACHING Lectures, lessons, laboratory work, practical exercises and study visits. EXAMINATION Written and oral examination, individually and in group. COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
