TIMEPERIOD: Q1, Q2 LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Hans Gelter Univ lekt PREREQUISITES Applicants must have completed the courses IS301, ISI302, ISE300, IES323, PÄS020 and PÄP041. COURSE AIM The aims of the course are that students acquire knowledge of: - the fundamentals of ecology and of the interplay between man and nature, the civilized landscape and the wilderness - how the view of ecological tourism and outdoor life has developed and effected nature and the landscape - how people's view on and consciousness of nature and the environment have developed and effected nature and the landscape - the development of recreational techniques in the perspective of the history of technology - the consequences of different recreational activities on the fauna, flora and landscape - leisure and Agenda 21 - the development of recreational techniques from "natural" to modern high-technological - the effects of outdoor life on health, physical welfare and environmental consciousness Students are also to: - acquire an ecological outlook and - gain familiarity with scientific concepts concerning the interplay between man and nature CONTENTS Basics of ecology and environmental studies. Environmental protection, environmental programs and Agenda 21. Views on nature, ethics of nature, and the Swedish legal right to access to private land. How hunting, fishing, outdoor life and tourism effect the flora, fauna and landscape. Analysis of the consequences of recreational activities and tourism. Trade and industry as tourist attraction. Studies of recreational establishments from an environmental viewpoint, environmental technical solutions. Outline of commercial recreational activities. Physical welfare, simple outdoor life and out door life techniques. Tourism and ecological tourism today and in the future from an environmental perspective. Work on practical placement during the autumn season, and field studies. TEACHING Problem-based studies which will be supplemented with lectures, lessons, group work, excursions, study visits and field studies. EXAMINATION Written and oral examination, individually and in group. COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass. ITEMS/CREDITS | |
